Remembering Jacob: A Legacy of Giving

Huge props to longtime donor turned board member Meghan Abraham and her mom Mary Ann Casper! After the devastating loss of her son Jacob, Meghan decided to honor him on his birthday by reaching out to loved ones in order to collect Jacob’s favorite items from his time with the Treasure Chest at Advocate Hope Children’s Hospital.

For the last 9 years they have celebrated Jacob’s birthday by collecting his favorite items and donating them to the Treasure Chest Foundation. What started as a simple wish to honor her son spread to the community, with packages arriving daily during Jacob’s birthday celebration toy drive.

This year amassed a mind-blowing 5,682 items consisting of coloring books, crayons, play-dough and other craft items, along with $1,945 in gift cards and $1,475. In total, they have collected 25,114 items, $6,655 in gift cards and $10,965 in Jacob’s honor. We are truly grateful to the Abraham family. Though his life was cut short far too soon, his heart reaches across the nation, spreading hope to children and teens fighting cancer.
