Note: Portions of this invocation were adapted from a recent book of blessings published by the Vatican.
God is love. In the desire to make us share in this love, God sent his Son into the world to come to our aid, and in gentle kindness to help those who are ill and suffering. In his great love for all of us, Christ said that whatever we do for the least among us, we do for him. He called those who show mercy and love "blessed of his Father" and promised them eternal life.
Father, your son Jesus gave his special blessings to children. Jesus' kindness is continued in the work of the Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation. May your special blessings be upon the board, the staff, the senior volunteers, and the young adult volunteers of the Foundation. Give them enthusiasm and strength to continue their work. And reward the donors and supporters of the Foundation, who really do bring joy to children as Jesus did.
We thank you, Father, for the joy the Foundation has been able to bring to thousands of suffering children in the past. We ask your blessings on the Foundation so that it may continue its important work of joy in the future.
You know, Father, the tears of young girls and boys suffering with cancer. Bless them with the gift of health. Let them feel again the joy of youth.
And finally, Father, as we come together tonight, bless our food and fellowship through Christ Our Lord.
